The Step Smart is low profile, easy to use, comfortable, and is designed with the proper dynamics to mimic the natural foot & ankle movements.

The Step-Smart™ brace is not only designed for clearance during swing phase, but it is also engineered to handle shock absorption at heel strike. The exclusive Jacob Joint™ pushes the foot into gentle dorsiflexion during swing phase. Then the pre-loaded feature of the joint absorbs shock and decelerates the plantarflexion phase instantaneously during heel strike.

The Step Smart brace comes complete with three sets of interchangable compression components that offer differing degrees of shock absorption. This allows the practitioner to adjust the shock absorption value to match the weight and step length of the patient. Another adjustable feature of the Step Smart brace are the tensors. The foot/calf angle is unique to each person and needs to be addressed by the brace. The Step-Smart brace includes a total of three tensors to adjust the calf section angle.

Swede-O Step Smart size guide:

Small/Medium fits a heel width up to 63mm (2 1/2 inches) and up to a Men's shoe size 9 or Women's size 10. The end of the footplate should land behind the metatarsal heads. The S/M footplate length is 6 ¼”.

Large/X-Large fits a heel width up to 76mm (3 inches) and from a Men’s shoe size 7 and higher, Women’s 8+. The end of the footplate should land behind the metatarsal heads. The L/XL footplate length is 6 ¾”.

Note to Consumers: The Step-Smart brace must be fit and adjusted by a qualified Medical Professional to achieve the proper settings for each patient.
